The Network and Security Services Division of MCS Ltd has attained ISO 27001 certification

The MCS Ltd, a member of Harel Mallac group,  has attained the ISO 27001 certification for the services that are rendered from the Network and Security Services (NSS) Division. The NSS Division deals with sensitive data and systems of MCS Ltd customers. The NSS Division provides the following services:

• Managed Hosting Services;
• Managed Security Services;
• Data Centre Services;
• Managed Support Services;
• Managed Service Desk Services.

Among the services provided include scanning of a client’s network, testing of a client’s intrusion detection procedures. Customers and business partners can now rely on an independent verification that NSS Division Information Security Management System (ISMS) is in accordance with industry-respected best practices.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) certified in December 2010, that the NSS Division operates its Information Security Management System in compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001:2005.

Due to the nature of some of the division’s engagements, the data that is collected and processed is no longer under control by the client, there is high risk of reputational or financial loss to the client should this data be disclosed. Hence a strict code of conduct has been put in place with stringent access control, continuous monitoring and incident response procedures. The NSS Division adopted ISO 27001 to operate an Information Security Management System that ensures continuous vigilance, management commitment and drive for excellence.

The certification is an example how a pioneer in IT Services in Mauritius practices what it preaches. MCS Ltd through the NSS Division assists several organizations, both in private and public sector, to manage their information security efficiently and effectively.
